HERO RECRUITMENT: THE ART OF THE HIRE
HERO RECRUITMENT: THE ART OF THE HIRE
“The secret to my success is that we’ve gone to exceptional lengths to hire the best people in the world” – Steve Jobs
Donald Trump always preaches the art of the deal, but at HERO Recruitment we’re far more concerned with the art of the hire. Whether it’s tech, tourism, television or toy-making, the success or failure of your business will largely depend on the individuals you hire to represent it – and no matter how wonderful you think your product is, your company will never be better than the people you’ve chosen to work there.
Steve Jobs instinctively knew this, which is why Apple is now one of the biggest and most recognisable brands on the planet. Virgin-founder Richard Branson also understood the vital importance of picking your employees carefully. “Hiring the right people takes time, the right questions and a healthy dose of curiosity,” he once observed. “What do you think is the most important factor when building your team? For us, it’s personality.”
Choosing the wrong people is the fastest way to undermine a sustainable business. Indeed, the wrong hire can oftentimes be worse than no hire at all. Amazon-founder Jeff Bezos once claimed, “I’d rather interview fifty people and not hire anyone than hire the wrong person.”
The harsh reality is that a bad hire can potentially cripple a good business. You need to choose wisely because the costs of getting it wrong can be astronomical. “Somebody once said that in looking for people to hire, you look for three qualities: integrity, intelligence and energy,” said billionaire investor Warren Buffet. “And if you don’t have the first, the other two will kill you.”
With more than three decades experience in helping companies choose the right person for the right job, our team at HERO Recruitment is indisputably one of Ireland’s leading talents when it comes to talent-spotting. But don’t just take our word for it. We have won numerous prestigious awards over the years, most recently in November 2019 when we proudly picked up the gongs for ‘Agency of the Year’ and ‘Best in Engineering, Science & Pharmaceuticals’ at the annual National Recruitment Federation awards.
“Companies really need to think about ensuring a seamless and positive candidate experience – especially in Ireland where everyone talks!” explains HERO director Roisin McNamara. “It’s a candidate market so companies need to set themselves apart with compelling employer branding to attract the best people. Candidates now tend to look up prospective employers in far greater detail than they used to – most especially online – before even considering sending in a CV. We at HERO are passionate about employer branding and helping companies become employers of choice.
“What is your company message to talent? That is the all-important question HERO will help you answer.”
