Manufacturing Engineer 
Location: Fermoy, Co. Cork

• This is an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical/Electrical/Automation Engineer with at least 1-2 years of industry experience (preferably in high volume manufacturing or related fields). We are looking for a hands-on Engineer with strong potential, sound technical knowledge, and excellent problem-solving skills.

Overview

• Our Fermoy, Ireland facility is FDA registered and certified to ISO 13485:2016 for manufacturing high-quality PCBAs, subassemblies, and complete devices, including Class III medical devices. In our Fermoy facility, our core specialization lies in manufacturing automation. We offer services covering the entire product lifecycle, from New Product Introduction (NPI), prototyping, and process validation to complex volume manufacturing, testing, shipping, and repair. Our state-of-the-art environment ensures the production of medical and other high-quality devices. With a track record of 30 years of outstanding operational performance and customer service, we are backed by a highly experienced workforce.

OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION:

• Drive improvements within complex fully automated production lines for a Class 3 medical device.
• Provide engineering support for a high volume assembly and packaging line.
• Achieve weekly targets on designated manufacturing lines.
• Ensure equipment is performing to specification.
• Identify and drive process improvement initiatives and updates.
• Provide customer support through direct involvement in customer-focused teams.
• Support Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance process capability and reduce costs.
• Ensure the smooth introduction of new products in a high volume production environment.
• Apply and implement concepts of Lean Manufacturing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor machine performance in real-time to maximize production output.
• Specify, install, and support production equipment.
• Provide support for development and engineering builds.
• Implement Engineering Change Orders (ECO) for designated products/lines.
• Identify and drive machine and process improvements.
• Support Line reconfiguration and machine moves.
• Conduct problem-solving and Process Capability analyses and identify appropriate corrective actions.
• Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input on New Product Developments.

MEASUREMENTS:

• Meet daily output targets and achieve demand and Yield goals.
• Completion of in-house training program.
• Understanding, usage, and improvement of in-house procedures.
• Improved line yields and overall product quality.
PERSONNEL SPECIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL:

• Level 8 Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Technology/Manufacturing based degree).
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as an Engineer in a similar automated production and support role in high volume manufacturing.
• Equipment knowledge and process debug troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with a high level of commitment to delivering projects against agreed deadlines and targets.
• A very practical, constructive, and analytical approach to problem-solving.

DESIRABLE:

• Implementation of Lean Six Sigma practices.
• Willingness to develop and take on leadership roles.
• Aptitude for hands-on mechanical work or control systems/IT systems.
• Experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
