Responsibilities may include the following:
  • Work as part of a team to design, develop, analyze, troubleshoot and provide technical skills during research and/or product development.
  • Designs in silico studies to investigate specific life science questions within field of expertise.


  • This role is for a Finite Element Analysis Engineer working within the Modelling & Simulation group for the Structural Heart & Aortic business.
  • Delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results.
  • Will be expected to be capable of working as an individual contributor to deliver on project specific work packages while working with the departmental FEA team for collective knowledge sharing and development.
  • The majority of time is spent delivering and overseeing the projects from design to implementation while and adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills normally acquired through advanced education. Ideally Must Have:
  • Investigation and root cause analysis skills.
  • Technical writing knowledge.
  • Organization and communication skills.
  • Process Validation and computer software validation knowledge.

Autonomy: Established and productive individual contributor. Works independently with general supervision on larger, moderately complex projects / assignments.

Organizational Impact: Sets objectives for own job area to meet the objectives of projects and assignments. Contributes to the completion of project milestones. May have some involvement in cross functional assignments.

Innovation and Complexity: Problems and issues faced may be deeply technical in nature. The successful candidate will be able to use computational modelling to provide technical understanding for concept down select, design optimisation and design failure analyses. The successful candidate will be responsible for recommending enhancements in systems and processes to solve problems based on computational data. Translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products.

Communication and Influence: Communicates primarily and frequently with internal contacts . External interactions are less complex or problem solving in nature. Contacts others to share information, status, needs and issues in order to inform, gain input, and support decision making.

Leadership and Talent Management: May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Requires practical knowledge and demonstrated competence within Finite Element Analysis typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
  • Requires a Level 8 engineering degree and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience.
