We are partnering with a valued Client, and currently seeking applications for a Principal Buyer to join a Global Procurement team.   

In this role, you will lead end-to-end procurement processes for various categories of spend, Indirect Goods and Services, ensuring exceptional customer service to supported Businesses, Sites, and Regions.   

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Lead sourcing events comprehensively, covering price negotiations, vendor quote tracking, supplier selection, and contract review and approval.  
  • Take a strategic and long-term view of procurement by identifying and developing innovative sources and contracts.  
  • Direct and drive stakeholder alignment by supporting stakeholder identification and ensuring input throughout the procurement process.  
  • Collaborate with Sourcing Managers in strategic planning and project sourcing execution, including setting up requirements for data analysis and supporting the development of Go-To-Market and negotiation strategies.  
  • Perform supplier analysis, including financials and capabilities assessment, and lead supplier performance development activities and management reviews.  
  • Execute sourcing projects for less complex categories in alignment with global strategies, ensuring optimal pricing and maintaining quality standards.  
  • Prepare comprehensive sourcing event documentation and support suppliers and the organization throughout the process, adhering to company policies and ensuring compliance with the Quality System and Approved Vendor List.  
  • Analyze spend data and develop recommendations for improvement in cost and process.  
  • Negotiate favorable payment terms with suppliers and monitor quality and delivery performance.  
  • Proactively engage with Stakeholders/Business leaders and the Global/Regional Procurement Team to understand, create alignment, and achieve their business strategies and objectives.  
  • Handle other ad hoc or recurring assignments as the needs of stakeholders evolve.  

Experience & Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  
  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in finance or purchasing.  
  • Understanding of best practices in procurement.  
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple project types.  
  • Effective negotiation skills and customer service orientation.  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Comfortable with frequent change and ambiguity in a matrix organization.  
  • Analytical decision-making ability and problem-solving skills.  
  • Ability to deliver against targets and objectives.  
  • Dynamic interpersonal skills.  
  • Working knowledge of sourcing practices, SAP, MS Excel, and PowerPoint.  


Onsite work is required in line with some specific project work, candidates must be willing to present on site in Cork three days a week initially, this may reduce to two days when relationships have been established.
