EHS Compliance Officer
Job Description: EHS Compliance Officer
Position Overview: Reporting to the Group HR & EHS Manager, the EHS Compliance Officer will oversee the effective coordination and implementation of Compliance, Training, and the Safety Management System across all site locations.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Quality and Compliance
- Foster a culture of compliance within the organization.
- Update and implement safe work practices (SOPs), especially for Warehouse processes.
- Collaborate with various functions to monitor and ensure adherence to Company and Statutory Health & Safety procedures.
- Regularly review procedures, practices, and documents to meet regulatory requirements.
2. Health & Safety
- Provide advice and recommendations on safety topics, training, and equipment.
- Actively promote a culture of accountability and collaboration as the H&S Officer.
- Serve as the primary contact for contractors and third parties, managing all safety documentation and method statements.
- Conduct inspections of premises and equipment in collaboration with each function.
- Proactively perform inspections, checks, and audits, documenting and addressing any issues or non-compliance.
- Prevent accidents by maintaining incident reporting, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
3. Training
- Develop a training plan for new hires.
- Standardize training for all staff in line with SOPs.
- Organize H&S training for employees as needed.
- Contribute to and deliver safety inductions.
- Coach managers at all levels on their H&S responsibilities.
Accountability:
- Ensure all work processes are documented in line with quality standards and safety risk assessments.
- Engage with the organization to achieve full compliance, maintaining zero tolerance for non-conformity.
Qualifications / Experience:
Essential:
- 3+ years of experience in Health and Safety or Compliance roles.
- Diploma in Health and Safety.
- Experience managing H&S in a Warehouse environment.
- Skilled in report writing and developing Health and Safety documentation.
- In-depth knowledge of compliance requirements and standards relevant to a Warehouse environment.
- Proven ability to promote compliance with safe working procedures.
- Ability to work independently and innovate.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Competence in managing multiple tasks and priorities.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Desirable:
- Train the Trainer qualification.
- Experience in developing and implementing quality standards.
Person Profile:
- Highly organized, energetic, and enthusiastic, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to anticipate and manage problems, prioritize, and escalate when necessary.
- Solution-focused with strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including presentation abilities.
- Ability to build relationships and foster cooperation across all functions and levels within the organization.
