Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for scientific innovation? I'm seeking a talented Laboratory Manager to helm a Chemistry Laboratory, provide strategic direction, professional management, and expert analytical advice. This pivotal role will report to the Senior Management Team and work closely with the Chief Scientific Officer to drive the organization's scientific objectives and elevate productivity and impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Management: Oversee the Chemistry Laboratory, ensuring exceptional service delivery in line with INAB and ISO 17025 standards.
  • Technical Expertise: Offer technical direction, support, and advice in Chemistry, serving as a subject matter expert in analytical science.
  • Innovation & Development: Partner with the Chief Scientific Officer to spearhead the development, validation, troubleshooting, and quality assurance within the lab. Manage validation processes for all instruments and methodologies.
  • Team Management: Mentor and lead a team of innovative scientists, manage workloads across multiple projects, and prioritize resources effectively.
  • Project Implementation: Develop and implement new projects aligned with our business activities, streamline processes, and introduce cutting-edge platforms and digital tools.
  • Operational Excellence: Perform SOP reviews, internal audits, QC checks, equipment maintenance, calibration, result entry, and validation. Ensure timely PT testing and accurate reporting.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Discuss test results with customers, sign off on laboratory reports, support scientific events, and represent Southern at industry meetings.
  • Strategic Insight: Advise on new technologies and scientific developments, and communicate the organization's strategy and research pipeline to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: BSc/MSc in Chemistry or a related discipline.
  • Industry Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a commercial laboratory, with progressive responsibility and authority.
  • Analytical Expertise: Extensive experience in analytical science, including the design, optimization, and troubleshooting of extraction and quantification for various analytical instruments.
  • Team Leadership: Proven experience managing large teams, with strong skills in people management, change management, and conflict resolution.
  • Strategic Vision: Ability to develop and achieve aggressive milestones, contribute to business development, and conduct market/opportunity analysis.
  • Standards Knowledge: In-depth understanding of ISO 17025.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong leadership, excellent interpersonal and emotional intelligence, and the ability to adapt to changing conditions and solve new problems effectively.
