Job Purpose:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Equipment Safety Engineer with an Electrical Background to join the Equipment Engineering group. This specialist team focuses on developing, building, and validating state- of-the-art manufacturing equipment. The Senior Equipment Safety Engineer will lead efforts to ensure the safety of machinery developed and upgraded on-site, playing a crucial role in the production of life-saving medical devices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Risk Assessment & Compliance: Lead and coordinate risk assessments for internally built manufacturing equipment, ensuring compliance with electrical and functional safety standards, including CE marking and ISO 13849.
- Design Support: Collaborate closely with Mechanical and Electrical Design Engineers to design and implement robust safety systems and architecture.
- Safety Documentation: Compile comprehensive technical files for CE marking and generate detailed reports highlighting safety issues, such as electrical touch-proofing and machine guarding concerns.
- Safety Leadership: Provide technical leadership on equipment safety, offering insights into product and process safety issues, and guiding the redesign of equipment to address safety gaps.
- Collaboration & Project Oversight: Manage safety-related projects by working with internal engineers, external vendors, and safety specialists to ensure all equipment meets stringent safety standards and is effectively integrated into the production environment.
Essential Requirements:
- Educational Background: Degree in Engineering or EH&S discipline is essential, with a preference for candidates with an electrical background.
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a similar role, particularly with CE marking of equipment.
- Certifications: Machine safety qualifications such as CMSE (Certified Machinery Safety Expert) or CECE (Certified Expert in CE Marking) are desirable.
- Skills: Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills with an imaginative and innovative approach to equipment safety.
Quality System Requirements:
Demonstrates a strong commitment to patient safety and product quality by adhering to the company’s Quality Policy and all documented quality processes and procedures.
