Electronics & Embedded Software Engineer

Our client, a manufacturing company in Galway in the West of Ireland are currently looking to recruit an Electronics & Embedded Software Engineer for their site.
This role will involve elements of electronics and embedded software design on an innovative project to enhance machine to machine communication within our product range.

Essential Duties
? Design, debug and deployment of software application(s) to control paint mixing equipment
? Design PCB layouts and work with suppliers to achieve excellent quality manufacture
? Travel on a regular basis to provide commercial and technical support to customers
? Develop robust customer specific software applications and/or control systems
? Develop communication protocols to interface between products and customers paint dispensing equipment
? Ensure security of data and machine operation by employing the required protection levels against unauthorised system access
? Test and validate product against manufacturing test procedures
? Hardware debug and analysis of old and new hardware designs
? Troubleshoot hardware issues to component level
? Develop firmware, primarily in C

Candidate Requirements
? Primary Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or Software related discipline
? Proficient in embedded software design (C/C++) for a Linux environment, e.g., Raspberry PI
? Working knowledge of hardware electronic design with a hands on technical aptitude
? Experience with circuit design tools, such as AVR Studio Tools, C Compiler, GCC Assembler
? Good written and oral skills in English, with excellent presentation skills
? Would suit a recent graduate or a candidate with 1-2 years? experience.

Key Skills and Competencies
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills
? Fluent in C/C++ and embedded Linux application development
? Real time embedded systems development experience
? Good documentation skills. Ability to describe and illustrate proposed designs and keep documentation current with design changes during implementation
? Ability to provide estimates to a project manager for work undertaken
? Excellent technical knowledge, analysis and debug skills within field of emphasis
? Ability to work both individually and collaboratively in a team environment
