Engineering Manager (Equipment Development Laboratory)

Our client a leading MNC is recruiting for an Engineering Manager for their site in Limerick. This role is commutable from Galway and Clare.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and direct the activities of the Engineering Laboratories and Biocompatibility SME’s.
  • Manage, develop and direct all personnel reporting to the Engineering Laboratory Manager and Biocompatibility function. Ensure the system procedures for the Engineering Laboratories are maintained effectively for their desired functional control/instruction.
  • Represent the company Ireland for all Global efforts involving Engineering Laboratory systems and improvements.
  • Work with Research & Development, Post-Market Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Engineering in development of test methods and test protocols for product and or process testing.
  • Work with Research & Development, Post-Market Engineering Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Engineering in development of custom equipment necessary for product test requirements.
  • Ensure effective systems are in place, and complied with, to ensure testing is executed to scientific and industry acceptable standards and reports generated are unbiased and accurately reflect the testing conducted.
  • Maintain knowledge and develop additional expertise in standards associated with medical device product testing.
  • Ensure systems are in place and complied with ensuring the Engineering Laboratories are a safe place to work.
  • Ensure systems are in place and complied with to maintain an orderly and tidy work place in the Engineering laboratories.
  • Work in a tightly regulated environment regarding quality procedures and regulatory requirements.

Education, Experience and Skills

  • Third level degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or similar Engineering discipline.
  • At least ten years work experience preferably in the medical device industry.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a Laboratory environment would be advantageous.
  • Experience of ISO 17025, US, Japanese and OECD GLP.
  • Knowledge and Experience of ISO13485, ISO 14971 the Medical Device Directive, ISO10993, EU Medical Device Regulation 2017/745 and the FDA QSR 21 CFR 820 and FDA CFR 21 Part 58.
  • Proven Team Leadership abilities.
  • Strong Project Management methodology and skills.
  • Proven track record in delivering quality results in a timely effective manner.
  • Project Leadership abilities.
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Highly motivated self-starter.
  • Knowledge of statistics.
  • Willingness and availability to travel on Company business.
