The Opportunity
You will take full ownership and responsibility of the technical aspect of the business including developing strategic plans, ensuring to meet and exceed budget expectations, continuing to grow and develop the business through new wins, organic growth and acquisitions. Through a people first and growth focused approach you will ensure that the business continues to solidify its presence and market leading position within the industry. This is an Executive Team position reporting directly to the CEO

This role of General Manager for technical services will lead and drive the function for delivering maintenance, project management and compliance services across a wide range of sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning
Prepare a strategic business plan, monitoring progress against the plan to ensure that the business attains its targets and objectives as efficiently as possible. Prepare strategies to outline short and long-term tactical direction planning and implementation steps, including budgets. Provide strategic guidance and recommendations to the CEO and Executive Team, keeping them aware of developments within the industry and ensuring that we are at the leading edge of winning, providing and retaining business within the technical sector
Financial & Commercial Performance
Prepare, gain acceptance and monitor the implementation of the annual budget in support of the strategic plan and ensure that budget targets are met, that revenue flows are maximised and costs are adequately controlled. Consistently strive to achieve the Business Units’ operating and financial objectives. Direct and control the work and resources within the Business Unit to optimise operational performance and achieve the desired impact on business results. Convert quoted works into converted jobs
Growth & Market Leadership
Continuously drive for improvement in the quality and value of the services and solutions provided by the Business Unit. Identify potential business opportunities and develop new business, supporting the Group’s overall growth strategy. Lead negotiations with customers and other key contacts to secure the most effective contract terms or outcomes for the Group.
Establish and maintain effective formal and informal links with current and potential customers, government departments and agencies, local authorities, key decision-makers, and other stakeholders generally, to network appropriately and ensure that business is held in high regard within the industry and is positioned to provide the appropriate range and quality of services to increase sales and grow market share.
Quality & Compliance
Ensure that the appropriate internal policies are followed to comply with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements minimising commercial or financial risk to the business.
People Strategy
Contribute to the development of our group People Strategy. Provide strategic leadership & expertise to the business unit thus empowering your leadership team to ensure the most effective teams are currently in place & performing with objectives and targets being achieved. Ensure that in collaboration with HR the leaders of the future are identified and are provided with the development programs and opportunities required to enable the business unit succession plan
