HR Generalist

Our client who is based in Galway is recruiting for a HR Generalist to join their team. This role is commutable from Clare and Mayo. The HR Generalist will directly support the Director of Human Resources in driving business growth and transformation pace through day to day support including on boarding process management, recruiting assistance, benefit management and special projects.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

HR Administration

  • Assist in overall employee satisfaction by answering employee requests and questions.
  • Manage and coordinate the Performance Management schedules.
  • Assist in the communication, interpretation and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory and organizational charts.
  • Liaise with the Director of HR regularly to agree actions and discuss priorities.
  • Maintain employee personal records.
  • Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams and departments across the company to enhance HR support and proactively assist with queries on HR related matters, PQQ’s and tenders etc.
  • Maintain HR records for all employees – role descriptions, training, sick leave, holidays, etc. Indicate to managers if there are any issues, using the information and any reports you have compiled.
  • Originator of any content sent to employees.
  • Point of contact for benefits administration.
  • Process paperwork for new employees, terminations and all other status changes.
  • Co-ordinate approval of annual leave requests and employee business expenses.

Recruitment & Selection

  • Assist Senior Management with the recruitment and selection process; responsible for all process steps after hiring decision for an employee has been taken.
  • Consider staffing logistics and contribute to space planning.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with employment agencies to ensure the selection of the most suitable candidates.
  • Manage on-boarding and exit processes – manage the overall administration of a new employee’s induction and departure, carry out exit interviews.

Training & Development

  • Assist with the organization of employee training, development plans and development strategies.
  • Assist in the monitoring of the training budget.
  • Partner with Senior Management in selecting and contracting training consultants for external training program.

Employee Health & Well-Being

  • In line with the company’s vision, develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and handbooks with employees can refer to.

Performance Management

  • Assist Senior Management with performance management issues.
  • Assist with the full performance review cycle process.
  • Inform Line Managers when probation periods are due to conclude in a timely manner. Follow up with the Line Manager about the outcome of the probation and prepare the appropriate letters to conclude or extend it.

Employee Relations

  • Minute taking/acting as a witness & record keeping for all employee relations matters.
  • Conduct investigation meetings and/or disciplinaries & grievance meetings as necessary. Support Senior Management directly with this process.


  • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of company HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR.

  • Good computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office: Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Good knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Professional telephone manner.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Possess a positive attitude and possess a strong work ethic.
