Would you like to travel the world and be part of our multidisciplinary projects? If so, then this might just be the right opportunity for you! We are looking for Controls Project Engineers/International Commissioning Engineers for our Loopgroup department. We are open to both junior as well as senior profiles. This position will provide you with an independent role and a lot of technical challenges. If you are looking for an opportunity to work on interesting, international projects together with a highly motivated multidisciplinary team of engineers and project leaders, please apply.
The Loop Group is responsible for the engineering, supply, installation, and commissioning of the loop sorters in our projects. These loop sorters (Crossorter, Helixorter, and Traysorter) are applied in all three market segments (Airports, Parcel and Warehouse Automation) all over the world. The total team consists of around 70 people and executes projects that range from small sorters with manual induction to large systems with complex sorting algorithms and high-capacity inducts. On average the team has about 45 parallel projects in progress and the turnover is about 53 million euros per year.
As International Commissioning Engineer you’ll have a shared responsibility for the commissioning of our systems at customer sites. Our world-class customers are located all around the world, which means that you’ll spend around 80% of your time traveling. You’ll be configuring the FSC (Flow Systems Controller; low-level controls software developed by us), but your work can also include configuring the SCADA and specific company software. After configuration, you’ll travel to the customer site where you’ll commission the system. This involves checking the cabling, setting up all the Electro-Mechanical components, building the interfaces with peripheral equipment such as scanners, fine-tuning the FSC software configuration which you’ve engineered, and putting our software into operation. In this role, you’ll work together with all parties on-site. To a large extent, you’ll be responsible for subsystem testing and making sure the system passes the Site Acceptance Test.
A day in the life as a commissioning engineer loop group You wake up in the morning, in a hotel, which can be anywhere in the world. This is the day you have been working towards in the last few months: the customer acceptance test. You’ve started the preparations in the office, gathering all the relevant information, documents, drawings, parameter files, and creating the FSC configuration. The last few months on site were intense. You met many people and became part of the multi-disciplinary site team. Together with this team, you’ve managed to get the sorter up and running. This included I/O checking, commissioning the (safety) PLC, parameterizing and fine-tuning frequency drives, interfacing with other systems, and optimizing the FSC.
Not only your analytical skills but also the support of your colleagues, helped you to overcome the challenges you have encountered. As the day goes by test cases are executed according to the test protocol. The sorter is only a part of the complete material handling system. The overall system is performing well, all capacities are reached and functionality is proven. You feel proud of what the team has achieved. In the evening, this is celebrated with a joint dinner. You are ready to go into the last stage of the project. The stand-by period, where you will support during the first weeks of operation.
