IT Support Engineer

Our client, a technology company based in the North West of Ireland are currently looking to recruit a technical support engineer for their site. This position will have some flexibility on working remote


The company is seeking to hire a Support Engineer who will report directly to the Head of Customer Support who will provide guidance and support to internal and external customers. This position requires self-motivation to achieve whatever needs to be done in the best interest of the customer, while adhering to our company values. The support engineer will be a generalist i.e. cover a broad range of support areas without necessarily specialising in any one discipline. 

The client operates primarily in a Windows based environment running MS SQL Server and the support engineer will be expected to have the ability to deploy, diagnose and support this environment.

This is a key role with the following responsibilities and tasks, but this list is not exhaustive

  • Investigating and Responding to Helpdesk tickets within SLA’s
  • Escalation of issues where necessary
  • nput to technical investigations
  • Input to hardware investigations
  • Performance of customer upgrades and installs
  • Diagnostics
  • Liaising with customers
  • Attendance at customer handover meeting
  • Internal IT support
  • IT Environment Support – External and internal backups, support documentation, hardware & software support for laptops, application licensing, business applications support, access controls
  • IT Security – Firewalls. McAfee EPO Orchestrator, support documentation, cyber security principles
  • SSO configuration
  • 3rd party vendor management
  • Microsoft Office 365 Admin Centres, including Exchange, Sharepoint, Teams, Azure Active Directory, Security and Compliance
  • Internal server monitoring & support

  • 3-5 Years’ experience operating within a multi-disciplined support team
  • Familiar with Project Management concepts
  • A working knowledge of SQL and/or SQL.DBA would be a distinct advantage
  • A degree in an IT discipline is essential
