Operations Manager

Overview: Our client is a MedTech Company focused on improving outcomes for patients with acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF). They are a rapidly growing organization with a strong emphasis on research, development, and clinical programs.

Core Role: As an Operations Manager, you will report to the VP of Technical Operations and collaborate closely with quality, regulatory, and R&D teams to achieve operational milestones. Your responsibilities will include aligning technical operations with the business strategy, managing operational risks, and implementing best practices to ensure high-quality products and efficient processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the transition of new products from R&D to production.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for key manufacturing partners and maintain relationships with them.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable products while managing the supply chain, pricing, supplier relationships, and protection of intellectual property.
  • Integrate design for manufacturing (DFM) principles into product development projects, providing guidance and direction on manufacturing methods, process design, and specifications.
  • Participate in the selection and development of manufacturing operations, both outsourced and insourced.
  • Oversee the development of new manufacturing capabilities, including equipment acquisition and commissioning.
  • Manage process characterization and validation.
  • Scale technical operations based on business development stages.
  • Implement best practices for identifying and resolving risks to quality, operations, and new product introductions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in yields, standards, cost of goods, quality, and efficiency.
  • Promote a quality culture and compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Support capacity planning and inventory management aligned with current and future demand.
  • Collaborate with R&D, quality, regulatory, clinical, and marketing teams to ensure capacity meets product demand and source new capacity/technology as needed.
  • Demonstrate leadership in talent selection, development, training, succession planning, and performance management.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Electrical, Materials, or Industrial Engineering. Master’s or PhD is a plus, or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the medical device industry, with at least 5 years in people management and leadership roles.
  • Strong leadership and team motivation skills.
  • Proven track record in supporting new product development and leading commercialization operations to meet global demand.
  • Strong planning, analysis, innovation, and execution abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Self-starter capable of independently driving the realization of business strategy.
  • Customer-focused mindset and ability to prioritize critical objectives.
