Our client, a medical device company in Galway are currently looking to recruit a Packaging Engineering Manager for their site.

Our team supports a broad array of R&D project activity in the Cardiac and Vascular Space. Our Engineers are directly involved in the development of innovative packaging solutions that drive competitive advantage. Our team is directly connected with the R&D organization from concept thru to commercial realization for a global market place. This Management position will provide leadership and direction to an engineering team ensuring implementation of strategic and tactical activities supporting R&D Core teams in multiple businesses.

Our Offer
You will lead, grow and motivate a skilled pool of engineering staff to provide technical leadership in design & development of packaging solutions across a number of R&D programs. You will prioritize project support activity across this engineering support team. You will coach and mentor staff and insure career development plans are in place. You will collaborate closely with the R&D Management team on program support and resource needs. You will apply development tools in the area of predictive engineering, material analysis throughout the design process. You will collaborate directly with R&D support team to understand objectives and evaluate connection for your reports. You will track and monitor key performance metrics for you team thru all phases of the development process. You will have a strong customer orientation and will support your team in focused voice of customer analysis. You will apply technical material analysis to support your team in sound decisions making process. You will work with you team to understand edge of failure analysis for a design concept and you will use this to execute right first time verification and validation activities. You will partner with Process Development team on characterization of any new equipment or technology. You will work across your team to provide a robust packaging system that meets the rigor of sterilization and distribution environment. You will have strong program management and interpersonal competency and you will apply this across your team. You will drive cost down opportunities across your team for all business support areas. You will build relationships thru Management and Leadership staff for functions that are critical to you teams success. You will support a culture of innovation driving breakthrough ideas which will add value to the customer experience. You will partner with a global package engineering organization and with cross functional staff at other locations. You will support technical focused packaging strategic initiatives thru a leadership team where technical level communication and delivery are required. You will manage thru influence across a matrix organization. You will contribute to the budget process as part of annual operating plan. You will partner with a broad spread of external vendors and test houses. You will connect directly with Senior Leadership staff in representing the package engineering function. You will understand and comply with company policy and procedures and external standards.

We are looking for a qualified person to minimum of a Level 8 Degree in Engineering/Science or a related discipline, Masters desirably with eight years relevant direct engineering experience in the medical device sector. A minimum of three to five years direct people management experience in an engineering function. You are a dynamic team player with strong communication, collaboration, engagement skill set. Excellent team building people management competency. You are experienced in the packaging system design development for the medical device sector. You set high standards and are driven to execute in a highly focused team dynamic.
