Process Development Technician
Building & testing of electromechanical medical device prototypes and design iterations. Good documentation competency required. Knowledge of metallurgy, plastics, adhesives and assembly required. Process Validation experience required.
The Process Development Technician has the authority to act on behalf of the Process Development Engineer.
=Setting up experimental rigs and preparing samples for development tests
=Setting such samples up on a range of different functional test rigs
=Managing and supervising test lots on various electro and mechanical test set ups.
=Documenting all results and presenting data in a concise and accurate manner.
=Writing test protocols and reports
=Supporting engineering personnel in various project activities.
=Assisting in potential equipment vendor assessment and selection.
=Technical liaison with equipment and process vendors.
=Management and design of experiments and studies with same vendors
=Perform other assigned tasks as directed by supervisor or head of function
=5 years' experience in a product or process development technician role, or 5 years as a senior process operator, assuming a drive and willingness to learn and succeed.
=Minimum of a diploma or equivalent in an engineering or technological discipline.
=Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision
=Meticulous attention to detail
=Strong scientific and technical awareness with an appetite to investigate and learn
=Understanding of ISO 13485 and FDA design and development processes
=Knowledge of design verification process and systems
=Proficiency in use of desktop software applications such as MS office
=Good time management skills
=Excellent verbal and written communication skills
=Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with good interpersonal skills
=Methodical and analytical approach to work
Typical medical device design and development environment with work also performed in development labs and manufacturing areas in addition to customer/supplier locations.
