Job Summary

The Product Stewardship & Sustainability Program Manager will support the Diagnostics Division to ensure compliance to product stewardship regulations worldwide, including, but not limited to REACH, RoHS, Conflict Minerals, and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).  This position will lead the product stewardship activities across the division and the development, implementation and management of the product stewardship, restricted substances and product sustainability programs.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute a Product Stewardship program that includes corporate requirements and client specific requirements and is aligned with business priorities.
  • Oversee responsibility for policies and procedures to ensure that they provide the required guidance and are directed specifically at how client conducts business.
  • Coordinate data collection from suppliers and Third Party Manufacturers (TPM) (e.g. product composition, conflict minerals form, compliance declarations)
  • Conduct part/product assessments to identify impacts of product stewardship regulations in the supply chain.
  • Assess applicable chemical registration requirements for chemicals/preparations prior to manufacture, importation or sourcing within a region.
  • Support and lead product stewardship and life cycle requirements related to the Environmental Management System, ISO 14001 and division sustainability efforts.
  • Identify and monitor emerging regulations or new requirements impacting client products or chemicals used by the clients sites and communicate as appropriate to ensure effective actions are put in place.
  • Assist the division with developing, implementing, and maintaining an adequate system of control and accounting of product and chemical registrations, and restricted chemicals.
  • Ensure maintenance of product stewardship databases to enable chemical regulation and registration compliance.
  • Manage multiple, often concurrent, projects to meet deadlines.
  • Understand the business requirements and possible impacts, and have a thorough knowledge of the stakeholder needs and product stewardship compliance
  • Work with a wide degree of latitude to plan, conduct and direct the product stewardship program.
  • Develop and lead implementation of the product stewardship and sustainability strategy at site level, division level and with the corporate product stewardship team.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and vendor requests for restricted substances management and product related sustainability information.
  • Regularly communicate updates on the product stewardship program to management.

 

Education/ Experience Requirements

  • BS degree with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in one or more of the following functional areas: R&D, operations, technical support, quality or regulatory.
  • Experience in product stewardship/restricted substances (e.g. REACH, RoHS) preferred, otherwise, experience with regulation interpretation and compliance is required.
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model. This individual will need to work with R&D, operations, technical support, quality, regulatory, legal, engineering, and supply chain/procurement.
  • Must possess data analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, and planning skills.
  • Must use sound judgement and ability to build and maintain relationships with individuals and teams.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills with attention to detail.
  • Project Management qualifications preferred 
  • Ability to work both independently and across highly diverse teams is required 
  • Drive functional performance that meets required standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10%, including internationally.
