Quality Engineer- Contract


Reporting to the Manufacturing Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer will lead & work as part of a team to maintain high quality and performance in-line with all current standards e.g. ISO and ASTM etc.

The position will require the ability to lead a team, be adverse in using problem solving techniques and work on own initiative and with minimum supervision.


  • Creation of quality documentation
  • Proactive view and improvement of systems and processes to ensure the maintenance of quality standards
  • Working closely with the manufacturing team to ensure quality management system documentation is adhered to.
  • Inspection
  • Be responsible for monitoring the quality of products within their allocated Value Streams – in order to maximise the ‘Right First Time’. Assisting so that corrective actions are carried out in a timely manner.
  • Support Continuous Improvement activities by working alongside CI Engineers/Supervisors for their designated Value Streams.
  • Arrange for testing of product where required, assist with FAI and Process Validation activities.
  • The compilation of Work Instructions and Self Inspection Check sheets for Zimmer Biomet manufactured products.
  • Supporting regulatory activities within the Product Environment.
  • Review of Hold Cages and Control of Non-Conforming Product.
  • Data gathering and generation of KPI data.
  • Responsibilities may also include the design and creation of gauge drawings/overlays using Autocad LT and data gathering. The ability to read drawings and use a variety of gauges including but not limited to CMM and Shadow graphs.
  • Carry out complaint and CAPA investigations, when required.
  • Other duties as deemed suitable by the department Director.



  • HND or equivalent in an Engineering subject.
  • Background in Medical Device Manufacturing or highly regulated industry.
  • Experience with quality tools such as Minitab and be conversant with report writing using Microsoft Excel, Excel and SAP systems.
  • Good understanding of clean room operations and sterilization validation would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Metal cutting, Polishing Operations, Coatings and Wash processes.
