Release Manager

Our leading technology client based in Limerick are looking for a new Release Manager due to company growth.  This role can be worked remotely with bi-monthly site visits

Reporting to our Software Development Manager, the Release Manager is responsible for scheduling, planning, and controlling the software’s development and delivery process.

Working closely with our development scrum teams through the project software development lifecycle, you will spend most of your time planning and tracking releases including deployment, communication, and risk management. You will be responsible for implementing and managing release processes for code through development, test, and production environments. You will be comfortable working collaboratively with all participants in software development projects. If this sounds like you, we want to hear from you!

Primary Responsibilities

• Plan the release of project deliverables and release life cycle for all major, minor and patch releases of our Gx software.
• Communicate the project-related tasks such as plans, timelines, requirements, etc. between different teams.
• Coordinate the release schedule and resources required with customers, stakeholders and multiple software teams.
• Identify the risks that can delay the release and manage them, such that the scope scheduled, and quality of the release is not affected.
• Track, monitor and communicate release progress issues to stakeholders from initial requirements through development to final release.
• Schedule the release readiness reviews before deployment and milestone reviews after each release.
• Create plans for the implementation and deployment as per the release schedule.
• Schedule regular meetings to discuss the release schedules with the team and find roadblocks, if any.
• Maintain documentation related to procedures on build and release, various notifications lists, and dependencies.
• Make improvements in the methodologies used for release management and improve the continuous release process.

Minimum qualifications

• 2-6 years of previous release and/or project management experience, (Solid understanding of project management principles preferred)
• Tech in Computer Science or an equivalent degree and/or good understanding of application infrastructure, system architecture, and operating system
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
• Excellent communication skills
• Leadership skills
• Problem-solving and analytics skills
• Team and time management skills
• Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
• Working knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle
• Knowledge of traditional agile methodologies, including Scrum, Waterfall, or Kanban

Nice to Haves

• PMP, Prince or Agile Project Management qualifications
• Working knowledge of Azure DevOps/JIRA or similar Agile tools
