National Retail Merchandiser

Our client, a company in Galway are currently looking to recruit a National Retail Merchandise for their site.



What will I be doing

This role will work nationally to increase the company brand and product presence in the stores of our customers. They will ensure that the correct mix of products are stocked and displayed, in order to achieve greater sales and maximise profits for our Customers. Liaising closely with our Area Sales managers and sales team, buying and store operations teams they will ensure the stock is properly monitored and available, addressing underperforming lines and increasing the stock of those products that are proving popular.


  • Planning and developing merchandising strategies with our Sales team
  • Merchandising accessories to the agreed in-store planograms.
  • Manage on shelf availability and visibility for all listed lines, also responsible for our outdoor products, ensuring availability and visibility in outdoor area and that all products are clean and well presented
  • Planning is essential to maximise store visits in an area and use time efficiently - all visits will be planned and monitored on our CRM system
  • Maximise customer interest and sales levels by displaying products appropriately and in prime location within each store
  • Attend open days and shows when required to support out sales team
  • Ability to monitor the impact of merchandising in each store
  • Ensure the products are positioned in a prime location instore with appropriate signage and clear pricing and branding, generating extra space for the brand by negotiating at store level
  • Working closely with our Area Sales Managers and Marketing team to ensure product layout plans for stores and maintain store shelves and inventory while ensuring a strong company branding presence in each store
  • Monitor stock movement and work with the Sales Director and Marketing team to recommend and implement markdowns, promotional campaigns, price changes, clear outs etc and implement instore.
  • Gain knowledge of our competitors in the market place and reacting quickly with feedback on any changes observed
  • Monitor slow moving stock and ensure our "best sellers" are meeting their full potential visually instore and monitor stock levels
  • Remain up to date with industry's best practices, identify trends in other stores and gain build on this store knowledge to increase sales


What do I need
  • 1 - 2 years Merchandising experience essential
  • Proven track record in hitting and exceeding merchandising KPI's
  • Agricultural knowledge and background an advantage
  • Must be able to travel and this role will include 1 to 2 nights away per week
  • Must have full clean driver's License, trailer license is desirable but not essential
  • Customer focused with a strong business acumen
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to build strong relationships with the team, in-store staff and customers
  • Ability to multi-task while working under pressure
  • Up-to-date with the latest merchandising trends and best practices
  • Excellent negotiating and influencing skills
  • IT literate and experience using CRM an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong listening, presentation and decision-making skills
  • Strong commercial acumen essential and good understanding of Sales
