Senior Mechanical Engineer, R&D – Hybird

Contract Duration: Six months then an Extension

Main Focus:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing working assemblies and detailed components for electromechanical medical devices, simulation/bench-top test jigs, and fixtures. The individual will work collaboratively with other Engineers, Technicians, and Operators to coordinate testing activities and supervise test setups. Utilizing Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will enhance product design and system performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Design working assemblies and detailed components for electromechanical medical devices, simulation/bench-top test jigs, and fixtures.
  • Collaborate with Engineers, Technicians, and Operators to coordinate testing activities and supervise test setups.
  • Apply Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools to optimize product design and enhance system performance.
  • Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis for assembly design and management.
  • Employ expertise in DFx (Manufacturing, Assembly, Serviceability, and Reparability) to ensure efficient and effective product development.
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as Solidworks, for detailed component design.
  • Utilize PLM systems, such as Teamcenter, for efficient data management.
  • Perform data acquisition, analysis, and statistical approaches using tools like Minitab software.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations in all design and development activities.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar, e.g., Biomedical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing and Automation).
  • 10+ years of relevant industrial experience in an electro-mechanical environment, preferably in the medical field.
  • Strong proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, particularly Solidworks.
  • Experience working with PLM systems, such as Teamcenter, for efficient data management.
  • Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies and tools.
  • Proficiency in data acquisition, analysis, and statistical approaches, including the use of Minitab software.
  • Expertise in detailed component design, including injection-molded parts, stamped sheet metal components, and machined parts.
  • Strong understanding of DFx principles (Manufacturing, Assembly, Serviceability, and Reparability).
  • Experience in assembly design and management, including tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.

Note: This job specification is for a 6-month contract position, with the possibility of extension based on project requirements and performance evaluation.
