Senior Mechanical Engineer

Our client a medical device world leader is recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer for their sit in Tipperary. Projects include external and capital systems with a focus on mechanical design. The role will involve frequent interactions with external entities in clinical/non-clinical settings to complete research activities, identification / development of system requirements and presentations on work product / progress to senior leadership team.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical design, including knowledge of appropriate design tools such as Solidworks etc.
• Working through the design and development life cycle process.
• Critical thinking in relation to down-selecting, component selection, reliability testing etc.
• Creation of system/subsystem requirements and supporting information.
• Design for EMC/CE and relevant standards such as IEC 60601;
• Component design including characterization, specification creation, identification of essential/non-essential design outputs.
• Design Verification, including test method development and validation, execution and analysis.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience delivering a product through the PLCP process.
• Experience with CAD packages.
• Knowledge of international standards and regulations in the electronics industry (ISO / CE / FCC);
• Experience in DFM (design for manufacturing);
• Ability to set up and execute experiments in a lab setting to close knowledge gaps.
• Experience of 3 years + in similar type role.
