Our client, a leading medical device company, are looking to recruit a Senior R&D Engineer on a permanent basis for their site in Galway.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design & development of next generation invasive medical devices for the treatment of heart disease.
You will be responsible for writing and/or verifying specifications, design verifications and design validations; maintaining product/process documentation; developing test methods.
You will be responsible for devising strategies for efficient execution of project deliverables and co-ordinate activities of a number of staff in an assigned phase of a development project.
You will work cross functionally with various departments including; Marketing, Operations, Quality Assurance, vendors and possibly physicians.
You will be responsible for transfers from new product to production.
You will participate in design review and designing products and processed for fabrication.
You will ensure the efficient transfer of prototype and pilot products to full production status and support these product lines on an ongoing basis.
You will promote an innovation mindset, identify areas for improvement, suggests solutions, and submit patent disclosures.
You will be responsible for identifing, evaluating, managing, and providing guidance to suppliers, including establishing tolerances and defining acceptance criteria for suppliers related to materials, manufacturing processes and design
You will evaluate in conjunction with EHS new equipment/processes/chemicals for environmental impact/effect to eliminate or lessen such impacts/effects.
You will ensure that all direct reports are aware of their commitment to patient safety and product quality, are current with their training requirements and that they understand and comply with all other regulations governing their work.
You will be responsible for building Quality into all aspects of your work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements
- Degree in Engineer - Mechanical, Polymer, Chemical, Materials or Biomedical - or a relevant discipline
- 5+ years' experience within a similar role
- Strong R&D or Technical experience
