Senior Supplier Engineer (Extrusions) – Galway

The Global Supplier Technology Lead – Extrusions works closely with Suppliers, Supplier Engineering, Supplier Quality, PD, R&D & Commercial Sourcing teams. 

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assigned 1 or several GS sub-categories of materials
• Assigned a list of suppliers associated with those sub-categories & technologies they have
• Delve into said technologies, web search’s, white papers, further education, you-tube, conferences
• Travel & visit all suppliers & identify new prospective suppliers
• Develop list of quality & supply risk mitigation opportunities & develop business case
• Develop list of cost reduction opportunities & develop business case
• Available for consultancy on special cause/ad-hoc technology-related events
• Attend GS Sub Category team meetings & feed into GS Strategy & Supplier segmentation
• Attend key Supplier business reviews
• Identify new technologies, expect our strategic suppliers to be investing in.
• Develop DFM matrices for R&D & embed
• Standardize & develop best practices alongside other Global Supplier Technology Leads
• Develop supplier capability reports by supplier location (who has what, where & what’s their core competency)
• Develop & roll out knowledge sharing/training materials
• Engage with the Global Technology Community
• Assess & develop supplier’s medical device knowledge & enhance where appropriate
• Assess & develop supplier’s Lean Six Sigma capabilities & enhance where appropriate 

What we’re looking for:

Required Qualifications

• Level 8 Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science (240 credits) 
• Ideally Masters or PhD in Polymer-related field
• 5+ years of work experience in Polymer Thermoplastic/Fluoropolymer/Silicone Extrusion manufacturing environment
• Ideally possess certification in Lean Six Sigma
• Ideally possess Medical Device experience
• Ideally possess Supplier Engineering or Supplier interfacing experience
• Ability to effectively support multiple high priority deliverables globally in parallel
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated attention to detail
• Ability to travel if required up to 10%
