Software Development Manager

 Our leading technology client based in Limerick are looking for a new Software Development Manager due to company growth.  This role can be worked on a hybrid basis, with one day onsite per week.

Reporting to our Chief Technical Officer the Software Development Manager will be an experienced Software Development Manager in an agile environment.

We are seeking a person who can understand all the details but see the big picture.

You are motivated to ensure that the teams get the best out of themselves through mentoring, best practices, and constant improvement in the areas of process and technology.

You are used to multiple teams, priorities and stakeholders.

You facilitate discussion and decision taking when required.

You will also work with other members in the development management team to help with alignment, standardisation, harmonisation, communication and co-operation across the other groups of teams.

Responsibilities

•  
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of developers/engineers and manage their career growth through outstanding mentoring and coaching.
•  
• Support the ramp up of the group including hiring, establishing development processes and tooling, infrastructure setup, etc
•  
• Recruiting external talent to supplement the existing pool and skill gaps
•  
• Oversight and understanding of all commitments and deliveries
•  
• Champion the moves into CI/CD and all related areas
•  
• Ensure focus on delivery velocity from idea to customer
•  
• Ensure focus on the alignment of delivery content and quality with strategic goals
•  
• Constantly communicate all of the relevant status
•  
• Oversee budget and availability of appropriate resource and environment
•  
• Balance delivery with maintenance and unplanned interruptions
•  

Minimum qualifications

•  
• 5+ years as a development manager in a software company
•  
• Excellent knowledge of modern development technologies and tools
•  
• Excellent communication skills, friendly and empathetic
•  

Nice to Haves

•  
• AWS Solutions, particularly containerised
•  
• CI/CD automated pipelines
•  
• Scrum/Kanban (incl. Estimations, Planning, Velocity, Burn down…)
•  
• Regulated Life Sciences industry, quality disciplines
•  
• Behaviour Driven Development
•
