Training & HR Coordinator

We are looking to speak with experienced HR professionals in relation to this exciting opportunity with a leading manufacturing company in Galway. This company is known for its diverse culture and excellent career development pathways.

As the Training & HR Coordinator you will Prepare, facilitate document training and development initiatives supporting the company training & development strategy. Support the HR department during the next phase of company growth to ensure we are implementing standard operating procedures for training & development. Ensure that training is delivered consistently across the company and our employees’ development is supported as we continue to grow our headcount.

Duties & Responsibilities Include:

Training & Development

  • Liaise closely with department managers, supervisors & operations to understand and identity the training needs required within the manufacturing operations.
  • Manage the annual training needs analysis programme and assess ongoing training needs throughout the year.
  • Organise, develop & source training programs to meet specific training needs as required.
  • Coordinate the company’s development & student programmes, e.g Engineering placements & internship programmes, student work experience, intercompany cross-training initiatives.
  • Manage the administration and filing of employee training records – Completed training forms, certificates, training evaluations, competency training records, etc.
  • Administrate the Employee Education Sponsorship Programme – Process applications, invoices and liaise with 3rd party training providers.
  • Prepare and present training programs using recognized training techniques and tools
  • Support department managers and team leaders to map out training plans for individual employees
  • Develop training aids, manuals, step by step process sheets for manufacturing operations & health & safety
  • Design & apply assessment tools to measure training effectiveness across the company and facilitate learning through a variety of delivery methods including classroom instruction, on-the-job coaching design.
  • Develop & coordinate the video training platform and database for operations
  • Working with trainers & department leaders to create and implement new training material
  • Build, maintain and report out on employee training metrics and budget/spend.
  • Liaise with and connect with external training networks, Skillnet, IDA, universities & colleges to ensure Penn Engineering are at the forefront of employee training & development. Establish and maintain these relationships and coordinate all off-site training activities for employees


Schedule and coordinate induction training for all new hires

Coordinate training documentation for HR, Health & Safety, Company/Product training

Set up new employees for clocking on the biometric clocking system.

Add new employees to all necessary reports, TMS, Training needs analysis, etc. Coordinate with the HR Team on employee onboarding tasks where required.

Employee Development & Wellbeing

Ensure new hires are aligned to the training plan outlined by their managers and are developing into their roles.

Orientation Check ins for new employees

Participate in HR Clinics in all buildings & wellbeing initiatives


Assist with coordination of the end-to-end recruitment process including:

Liaising with recruitment agencies, jobs boards, etc.

Reviewing and screening CVs & candidates

Coordinating interviews & contacting candidates

Reference checking

Regret after interview for unsuccessful candidates

HR Duties

Create, implement and manage new company policies & procedures in line with employment legislation.

Play a key role in HR Improvement projects & Training & Development initiatives Work with the HR Operations Manager and HR Director in relation to the effective running of the HR function.

Adhoc duties / projects as required.

Core Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:

In-depth knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes and employee training requirements.

Understanding of documentation processes & HR management systems. Understanding of ISO standards / QQI Qualifications / Training needs & outcomes assessment.

Strong presentation, administration, and coordination skills.

Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to effectively manage the training function of a diverse group of a highly dynamic manufacturing environment to achieve training required in order to facilitate high performance levels from employees.

Key Requirements:

  • HR/ Training and development qualification or similar
  • Actively contribute to cross departmental projects and initiatives in relation to training.
  • Assess new and existing colleagues on product, policies, procedures and work instructions to ensure retention of knowledge
  • Support internal and external audits by maintaining and producing training records as requested.
  • Other duties and responsibilities that may be reasonably assigned by management.
