Why Ireland’s the place to be for employment right now
The emerald isle is certainly famous for its culture, music, rugby and horse-racing (to name a few). But there are plenty of other reasons as to why Ireland is a fantastic place to live. Not to mention that it’s also one of the best places to be for employment right now.
In fact, with a healthy looking economy and an exciting mix of employers housing their offices in the country, now could be the perfect time to look for a new role in Ireland.
In this blog post, well talk you through this in more detail and outline just some of the reasons why Ireland is the ideal location to find a job right now.
Booming economy
According to the European Commission, Ireland is set to be the fastest-growing economy in Europe this year. What’s more, since 2013, gross domestic product (GDP) has grown by 50%, putting Ireland ahead of China in terms of global growth.
In addition, the Irish economy saw growth of 9.1% in the first quarter of 2018, compared to the same period last year. These stats show that the nation as a whole is experiencing great prosperity, putting businesses in a favourable position.
More jobs on offer
The strength of Ireland’s economy is certainly helping employers to feel more confident about growing their teams. In fact, according to data taken from CV-Library.ie, the amount of jobs being advertised in Ireland rose by 1% in June 2018, with an even bigger hike in Cork (jobs up 4.2%)
So with more companies looking to hire additional members of staff, if you’re currently looking for work, or are considering a job change, now could be the perfect time.

Higher salaries
In addition, according to data taken from the CV-Library.ie site in June 2018, advertised salaries for jobs in Ireland increased by a staggering 12.2% year-on-year and 5.9% month-on-month.
In addition, the country’s capital saw an even larger hike in pay, with wages increasing by 13.6% in Dublin, compared to May.
Interestingly, a survey conducted amongst candidates in CV-Library.ie’s database found that workers in Ireland were some of the least likely to say that they were underpaid: with just 35.7% stating that they believe they should be earning more money, compared with 65.3% in the UK.
So, with advertised salaries rising, now is definitely a great time to find a new job in Ireland, especially if you’re one of the above percentage that thinks you aren’t earning what you should be.
Exciting companies
Ireland is fortunate enough to be home to some major players across a whole host of industries. For example, top tech companies including Dell, Apple, HP, Intel and Google, reside in the country as well as key employers within the pharma industry such as Boston Scientific, Stryker, Medtronic and MSD, it’s a hub of opportunity!
Alongside this, the start-up culture is booming, with analysis revealing that 2017 was a record year for the number of companies being set up in Ireland.
This means that, if you want to work for a corporate giant, or a smaller business, the vast array of employers in Ireland can offer the best of both worlds.
In summary
It’s clear from the information outlined above that Ireland continues to boom and is in a particularly favourable position right now. Therefore, if you’re thinking about searching for a new role, now could be the right time –
