An outstanding opportunity awaits a Safety Lead to advance their career with a global leader in the Specialist Nutrition manufacturing industry, by becoming part of the onsite Environmental, Health & Safety team (EHS). In this role, they will play a vital part in overseeing and enhancing safety standards at the site. The ideal candidate should possess over four years of relevant experience in safety roles, demonstrating leadership in safety programs. We seek an ambitious individual with a proven track record of achieving results, high motivation, and a strong passion for EHS.

Key responsibilities for the EHS Specialist include:

  • Overseeing safety programs throughout the site.
  • Developing and executing a continuous strategic safety plan and leading projects aimed at improving the already high-performing safety culture.
  • Advising and communicating with site leadership, as well as external Abbott Nutrition leadership, regarding safety performance and program governance.
  • Leading site-wide safety inspections, in collaboration with local functional leadership, to uphold a high-performing safety culture.
  • Identifying workplace hazards, conducting risk assessments, and advising management on appropriate control measures.
  • Conducting internal audits and site inspections, recommending corrective actions and improvements, and documenting findings.
  • Leading proactive analysis of safety performance trends and implementing hazard reduction plans as necessary by engaging with responsible site functions.
  • Establishing and nurturing relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote open communication.
  • Leading ISO45001 preparation and ensuring certification maintenance.
  • Adhering to Abbott Global Safety Technical Standards and providing or organizing safety training as needed.
  • Reporting to the site EHS Manager and acting as a deputy upon request.
  • Being adaptable and flexible to accommodate changes in responsibilities based on plant needs.

Education-wise, a tertiary qualification in EHS or Engineering is preferred, along with at least two years of experience in a high-volume and dynamic production environment.

Key skills and attributes required include the ability to work effectively within a high-performance team, initiative-taking with excellent organizational skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with stakeholders at various levels, and experience in environmental compliance would be advantageous.

This role is accountable for ensuring compliance with all regulatory and Abbott EHS regulations, especially regarding safety programs on-site.
