Responsibilities:

  • Lead process development on development projects, collaborating within project teams.
  • Develop and implement new manufacturing and process technologies to support product development and transfers.
  • Apply innovative technologies and methodologies to optimize process design and performance.
  • Establish processes based on product specifications, aligned with Unit Cost metrics.
  • Evaluate process and design alternatives using Design for Manufacturability principles.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving techniques.
  • Complete process validation for new processes and products, including IQ, OQ, PQ, and PPQ.
  • Collaborate with external vendors to specify, develop, and commission new process technologies.
  • Set up new manufacturing equipment/production lines, including selection and training of personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards during process development.
  • Develop manufacturing processes from prototyping to full-scale production.
  • Manufacture and test prototypes.
  • Design and source equipment and tooling to meet capability and capacity requirements.
  • Generate work plans and schedules for development activities and execute them.
  • Lead process validation and equipment qualification activities.
  • Provide support and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Adhere to all Quality Management System requirements.

Required Skills:

  • Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline with over 5 years of experience in manufacturing process design and optimization within a regulated environment.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize and deliver automated solutions.
  • Experience with Six Sigma methodology for process improvement (e.g., DMAIC) and problem-solving (e.g., 6-step approach).
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and the use of tools like Minitab.
  • Strong mechanical background with knowledge of metals and plastics processing.
  • Highly innovative, motivated, and organized with excellent planning and communication skills.
  • Excellent SolidWorks skills.
  • Experience with various manufacturing processes like laser welding, reflow technologies, crimping technologies, braiding, coiling, laser cutting, injection molding, and adhesive bonding is advantageous.
