Location: Galway

Job Summary: 

Our client, a prominent multinational corporation in Galway, seeks an experienced Moulding Technician to join their core team. The ideal candidate will possess relevant experience in a manufacturing environment and will be responsible for addressing equipment, yield, and process-related issues while implementing corrective and preventative actions to prevent recurrence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration and Improvement:
    • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to develop, troubleshoot, standardize, and enhance existing production methods and procedures.
    • Focus on supporting and optimizing Balloon forming processes.
  • Maintenance and Repair:
    • Maintain a critical spares inventory for essential Balloon forming equipment maintenance items to reduce downtime.
    • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on Balloon forming equipment.
  • Production Support:
    • Execute changeovers and equipment setups as part of production runs.
    • Sustain processes within predefined specification limits and lead root cause investigations into all out-of-control events.
  • Innovation and Documentation:
    • Assist Manufacturing Engineers in investigating and implementing new production methods.
    • Design, specify, manufacture, test, and document production equipment changes and improvements.
    • Perform equipment qualifications and validations, including report writing.

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Educational Requirements:

    • Third-level qualification, ideally a Diploma in Polymer Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience:

    • Strong knowledge of Balloon forming equipment and processes.
    • At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Technical and Interpersonal Skills:

    • Good technical capabilities and troubleshooting skills.
    • Excellent communication skills, teamwork abilities, and initiative.
    • Proven ability to work well both as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to perform routine and some non-routine technical assignments using standard methods and sequences.
    • Experience in setup, testing, repair, inspection, and maintenance of area-specific equipment, materials, systems, and products.

Key Attributes:

  • Ability to sustain processes within predefined specification limits.
  • Strong focus on minimizing equipment downtime through effective maintenance and spare parts inventory management.
  • Capable of leading root cause investigations and implementing effective solutions to prevent recurrence of issues.
  • Proficiency in documenting equipment changes, improvements, qualifications, and validations.

Note: This role requires a proactive individual with a solid background in manufacturing processes and equipment maintenance, particularly within the context of Balloon forming technology. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach to working within a team environment.
