The Technical Engineer (Electrical) plays a vital role in coordinating, facilitating, and executing maintenance activities, minor repairs, relocations, and logistics. The role ensures compliance with health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) standards, as well as adherence to Safe Systems of Work across the managed property portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Escort and brief engineers and supplier maintenance staff as required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of preventive maintenance programs.
  • Maintain effective, asset-specific maintenance and safety procedure manuals, ensuring compliance.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with external contractors, tenant project teams, and internal engineers.
  • Assist in overseeing building systems including fire/life safety, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems.
  • Administer equipment and construction warranties during the defect liability period.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations (e.g., fire, evacuation, equipment failures) and address customer concerns.
  • Support engineering and maintenance issues as needed.
  • Implement and manage inventory control systems for parts and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and directives regarding building operations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of mechanical, electrical, and equipment systems; recommend and oversee necessary adjustments.
  • Drive improvements in technical service delivery and contribute to a high-quality workplace experience.
  • Support utility savings, service enhancements, and operational efficiencies.
  • Remain adaptable and responsive to changing client needs.

Electrical Duties:

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, and equipment in compliance with applicable codes and safety standards.
  • Diagnose faults using appropriate testing equipment and troubleshooting methods.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance on electrical systems and components.
  • Install lighting systems, power panels, and control systems.
  • Test systems for voltage, continuity, and functionality.
  • Maintain clear records of all work performed, including materials used and system modifications.
  • Respond promptly to electrical emergencies.
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international electrical standards.
  • Recommend energy-efficient solutions and improvements.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines on multi-technical projects.
  • Keep updated with advancements in electrical technology and safety practices.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in general maintenance, engineering, or handyman-type roles.
  • Knowledge of Predictive, Preventive, and Protective Maintenance methodologies.
  • Solid understanding of building systems and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to onboard, supervise, and assess contractor performance.
  • Electrical competency for installation and repairs.
  • Strong knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to equipment and facilities.
  • Proficient in computerised systems such as Building Management Systems (BMS) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
