Overview
We’re seeking a LAN Support Technician I to join an internal IT support team on behalf of one of our clients. This position is ideal for early-career professionals with a solid foundation in desktop support, hardware/software troubleshooting, and user account management. The role involves hands-on support across various systems and technologies to ensure smooth daily operations in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day technical support for end users, including hardware/software troubleshooting, printer and peripheral support, and assistance with mobile and phone systems.
Set up new users, including workstation deployment, phone/network configuration, ID creation, and building access permissions.
Monitor and manage helpdesk tickets, ensuring timely resolution or escalation when needed.
Create and manage user accounts in Active Directory and Exchange, including group membership and permissions.
Troubleshoot OS-level issues (Windows 10), network application problems, and support for remote access (VPN).
Maintain software license documentation and report usage to IT management.
Develop and maintain user training materials for onboarding and re-training purposes.
Maintain and deploy desktop/laptop system images; oversee hardware/software inventories.
Support and maintain peripheral devices such as scanners, printers, and projectors.
Ensure all conference and meeting rooms are IT-ready and operational.
Organize and maintain structured cabling for both data and phone systems.
Monitor basic server activity and report abnormalities impacting business operations.
Collaborate closely with other IT staff to support infrastructure reliability.
Skills & Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years' experience in IT support or help desk roles.
Proficient in Windows 10 and Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Experience with common desktop applications, computer hardware, and peripherals.
Familiarity with Active Directory, user account management, and network protocols.
Understanding of basic network topologies and troubleshooting tools.
Certifications such as CompTIA A+ are a plus.
Experience with Exchange, SQL, or system imaging tools is beneficial.
Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in a team.
Detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset.
Working Conditions
Office-based with standard business hours; occasional extended hours as needed.
Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Regularly required to walk, sit, and use hands to operate equipment.
Moderate noise level typical of an office environment.
