Automation Engineer (Junior & Mid-Level Opportunities Available)
Job Purpose
We are currently hiring for both Junior and Mid-Level Automation Engineers to support the development, installation, and maintenance of control systems within a highly automated, validated manufacturing environment.
The successful candidates will work on control system software, machine integration, and continuous improvement initiatives, while supporting production operations and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities (All Levels)
Develop, test, install, and support automation control system software.
Provide technical support to operations for automation-related issues on production lines.
Participate in cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and to required quality standards.
Analyse, troubleshoot, and fault-find automation systems and software.
Maintain clear and precise documentation in line with validated/regulated environments.
Ensure compliance with internal quality systems, safety, and environmental standards.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions.
Communicate effectively and provide technical expertise to stakeholders.
Additional Responsibilities (Mid-Level Role)
Lead or actively contribute to machine control system integration and debugging (including servo motion and high-speed systems).
Develop User Requirement Specifications (URS), Functional Specifications (FS), and Detailed Design Specifications (DDS).
Design, develop, and validate PLC and HMI software.
Support hardware and system architecture selection decisions.
Work on complex automation systems including robotics, vision systems, and distributed systems (where applicable).
Manage or contribute to project planning, scheduling, and execution.
Provide mentoring and training to junior engineers.
Work within strict change control procedures in validated environments.
Additional Responsibilities (Junior Role)
Support development and modification of control system software.
Assist in installation, testing, and validation of automation systems.
Contribute to troubleshooting and resolving production issues.
Support project teams and gradually take on ownership of smaller tasks/projects.
Work with senior engineers to develop technical skills and domain knowledge.
Skills & Experience
Essential (All Candidates)
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
High attention to detail.
Ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines.
Junior Level
Graduate or 0–2+ years’ experience in automation or control systems.
Basic understanding of PLCs, HMIs, and industrial automation.
Willingness to learn and develop technical expertise.
Mid-Level
5+ years’ experience working with automated control systems in a machine design or manufacturing environment.
Strong PLC experience (e.g., ControlLogix, GuardLogix, safety PLCs).
Experience with HMI/SCADA systems (e.g., FactoryTalk, Wonderware, or similar).
Experience in system integration, debugging, and validation.
Knowledge of servo motion, robotics, vision systems, or related technologies is advantageous.
Experience working in regulated/validated environments with strict change control.
