JOB TITLE:                      Security Officer          

DEPARTMENT:                Human Resources Department

REPORTING TO:              Security Lead

DIRECT REPORTS:          N/A

OBJECTIVES OF POSITION:

To protect the company and its assets from physical threat and the unauthorized removal of company property.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Quality: 

• Assure ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements.

Health & Safety:

• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety Legislation and Regulations.
• Prevent unauthorized entry to the site.
• Assist in fire evacuation and other emergency drills.
• Carry out S.O.P. for same.
• Prevent unauthorized removal of company property.
• Carry out searches as requested/required.
• Maintain concise, accurate reports and forward same to relevant authorities.
• Maintain all logs in a factual manner.
• Provide surveillance via in house cameras and patrols.
• Take over phone duties outside normal office hours.
• Carry out weekly maintenance on the fire sprinkler system and fire alarm.
• Accompany supervisors / section leaders to stores as requested.
• Carry out daily and nightly patrols of the site.

MEASUREMENTS:

• Measurements will be tracked against plant metrics and MBOs tracked as per the annual appraisal process.

 

PERSONNEL SPECIFICATIONS

DESIRABLE:  

• Previous experience in industry or a college qualification in security studies.
• First aid qualification.
• Knowledge of fire extinguishers and their application.
• Fork lift truck certificate.
• Previous experience working in a security position.
