Production Manager
Location: Castlebar Co.Mayo
The Production Manager reports directly to the Head of Operations and is a key member of the site Management Team. You will manage multiple manufacturing teams, including supervisors and manufacturing staff, to meet production schedules and customer commitments. You will support the overall site vision and initiate improvements to ensure processes meet current and future requirements for quality, growth, flexibility, and cost improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage department supervisors and support staff to deliver best-in-class safety, quality, and production results.
- Lead and motivate direct reports to embed a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing throughout the organisation.
- Collaborate with manufacturing operations management and customers to ensure quality commitments are met on time.
- Approve and ensure strict implementation of instructions relating to production operations.
- Drive Operational Excellence initiatives to improve throughput, reduce waste, and enhance process capability using Lean,
- Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to identify and address potential issues and process improvements.
- Ensure required validations are performed and that processes and systems meet specified requirements.
- Manage area of responsibility to ensure GMP and GDP requirements are met and adhered to.
- Promote safety improvements including root-cause analysis and proactive risk-reduction activities.
- Develop and implement a manufacturing budget aligned with the plant strategic plan.
- Continuously reduce manufacturing costs through the Value Improving Practices programme.
- Ensure required initial and continuing training of department personnel is carried out and adapted according to need.
- Build Operational Excellence capability across the team through coaching, structured problem-solving, and Lean skills development.
- Third-level qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Proven leadership and people management experience in a GMP facility.
- Demonstrated experience leading Operational Excellence, Lean, or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Financial and budget reporting experience.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills with strong decision-making ability.
- Innovative problem solver with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to apply structured Operational Excellence tools such as DMAIC, Kaizen, 5S, and Value Stream Mapping.
