About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Engineering Manager to lead a high-perf orming engineering team within a highly automated and regulated manuf acturing environment. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, this is a strategic leadership role with respo nsibility f or delivering complex capital projects, driving operational excellence, and advancing manuf acturing capabilities through innovation and continuous improvement.

The successf ul candidate will play a critical role in shaping the site's technology landscape, leading projects f rom concept and f easibility through commissioning, validation, and operational handover. This position of f ers the opportunity to make a signif icant impact on manuf acturing perf ormance, saf ety, quality, and ef f iciency while developing and mentoring a talented engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical leadership across engineering projects f rom inception through successf ul delivery.
  • Apply robust project management principles to ensure projects are delivered saf ely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Identif y, analyse, and resolve complex engineering challenges requiring in-depth technical expertise and sound judgement.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational ef f iciency, productivity, reliability, and compliance.
  • Champion innovation and the adoption of new technologies to support business objectives.
  • Provide expertise in automated manuf acturing systems, including high-speed robotic and process equipment.

Project Management

  • Lead and manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously, ef f ectively prioritising resources and deliverables.
  • Oversee capital expenditure and departmental budgets, ensuring f inancial targets are achieved.
  • Coordinate cross-f unctional project teams and manage relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and customers.
  • Ensure successf ul project execution through all stages, including f easibility, design, commissioning, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), Operational Qualif ication (OQ), and Perf ormance Qualif ication (PQ).

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers within a regulated manuf acturing environment.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Support team development by building technical capability, business acumen, and leadership skills.
  • Coordinate engineering activities to ensure the successf ul completion of project deliverables while optimising saf ety, quality, cost, and operational ef f iciency.
  • Promote best-in-class engineering practices and ensure adherence to regulatory and quality requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, Manuf acturing, or related discipline).
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience within a highly automated and regulated manuf acturing environment.
  • Proven experience managing and developing technical engineering teams.
  • Strong track record of delivering complex engineering and capital projects.

Skills & Competencies

  • Extensive knowledge of automated manuf acturing processes, equipment, systems, and technologies within a regulated industry environment.
  • Demonstrated project management leadership experience, including managing cross -f unctional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to make balanced decisions relating to cost, compliance, quality, and productivity.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, organisational, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong decision-making capability with a high degree of prof essional judgement and accountability.
  • Advanced IT prof iciency, including Microsof t Of f ice applications and Microsof t Project.
  • Experience with engineering and f acility management sof tware, including AutoCAD or equivalent systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team leadership skills.
