Process and Product Engineer

Responsibility:

  • Support new product introduction and continuous improvement activities within the area of responsibility
  • Maintain and improve manufacturing processes and associated equipment to support product quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction
  • Design and improve manufacturing equipment to support process performance and customer requirements

Essential Functions of Job:

  • Participate in the development, validation, and optimisation of manufacturing processes and equipment for existing and new products
  • Support new product introduction, including process development, scale-up, and transfer to production
  • Interface with Quality Assurance and cross-functional teams to implement corporate and FWMI goals
  • Conduct process capability assessments
  • Communicate technical information to production personnel, including creation of work instructions and delivery of training
  • Research, develop, and implement process and equipment improvements
  • Understand manufacturing processes and internal customer equipment needs; translate requirements into practical engineering solutions
  • Create mechanical designs for equipment and improvements, including preparation of technical drawings and documentation
  • Prepare quotations for capital projects as required
  • Source and procure components for projects
  • Work with the Technical Center team to ensure successful implementation of engineered equipment and solutions
  • Provide technical support and knowledge to process engineers
  • Perform other duties as requested by management

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience in machine design, machining, machine building, or fabrication required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • Knowledge of metallurgy or materials engineering is desirable; however, training will be provided as required
  • Knowledge of process validation methodologies is desirable (IQ/OQ/PQ)
  • Experience with three-dimensional modelling software (e.g. SolidWorks) is desirable
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills
