Quality Engineer
Reporting to: Quality Manager
Function:
Provide inspection and root cause analysis support for components and products subject to complaints or internal investigation. Lead identification of root cause of internal or external nonconformance with a cross functional team and drives action for correction and prevention of same. Supported by the Senior Quality Engineer (SQE) and or Quality Manager (QM). Carrying out of internal systems auditing and any corrective action follow up. Involvement in the development of FMEA and control documentation, MSA & SPC studies and implementing corrective action plans. Involvement and leading continual improvement projects e.g. quality systems, production processes, measurement systems, and training of operators and peers. The position will be required to support quality functions as identified by QM.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support and drive the Company Quality Policy
- Process Development Output Auditable to IATF16949 or other standards as required
- Support creation of Process Flows Diagrams
- Support the creation/maintenance of (D/P)FMEAs.
- Development of Control Plans, and inspection sheets, in line with core tool employment
- Development, revision and controlled release of Work Instructions within the QMS.
- Ensure the Control plans are followed and documented in production areas
- Support where required calibration and laboratory testing activities.
- Support internal Audit Procedures, planning, execution, follow up and documentation.
- Identify and develop continuous improvement opportunities within QMS and production processes.
- Lead and drive cross-functional teams reactions to non-conformances where issues occur or KPIs are not met, from containment through root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions to completion.
- Support the process validation of new processes/equipment.
- Plan and execution of MSA studies on measurement equipment.
- Design, programme and document inspection routines on CMM measurement equipment.
- Communicate with and support customer on issues of complaints, requests, or other as required.
- Interface with and use all software systems and tools, including ERP system, in line with procedure.
- Ability to use all inspection equipment to ensure conformance to all product and processrequirements.
- Perform and document inspections of components, assemblies, finished goods and prepare an inspection report as required.
- Participate in and execute all system and assigned tasks including NPDP, Change Management and PPAP Process (including the documenting of customer PPAP submissions).
- Timely communication of issues, non-conformities or otherwise, to supervisors and management.
- Communicate/Train Operators on inspection plans, work instructions and other necessary QMS documentation and use of measurement equipment
- Practice good housekeeping, follow safety rules and contribute to an atmosphere of teamwork focused on Continuous Improvement.
- Perform any other tasks as assigned by your supervisor
Continuous Improvement/Lean
- Ensure your area is properly organized to maintain 5S
- Identify opportunities for improvement
- Promote the culture of quality and operator responsibility for workmanship and quality
- Understand and support the development of corrective actions through root cause analysis (5whys) 8D methodology
- Be an active member of Lisk team and work with all employees to develop a world class Lean Manufacturing system
- Apply knowledge and skills of processes to facilitate learning and growth among fellow team members.
Key Accountabilities:
- Maintenance of processes auditable to IATF16949
- Monitoring of and written report to the management team where quality plans are not
- followed and documented in accordance with procedures
- Ensure the control and disposition of non-conforming product in your designated areas, and lead and execute actions to resolution
- Reduction in internal cost of poor quality, non-conformances, and issue recurrence.
- Accurate and thorough completion of all documentation and quality engineering projects.
- Provide training and support to all employees to ensure compliance with SOPs
- Co-ordinate with all departments in an effective and professional manner
- Document work instructions, facilitate CI improvements
- Annual individual and departmental goals as agreed with supervisor
Qualifications & Experience:

- A relevant 3rd level qualification.
- 2 years of Quality experience preferred
- Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
- Must be highly analytical and effectively able to troubleshoot and prioritize needs, requirements and other issues.
- Microsoft Windows-Office and EXCEL applications
- Knowledge of ISO9001, IATF16949, EN/AS9100
- Team Dynamics and Inter-personal skills
- Problem Solving using appropriate quality tools, 5 Whys, Ishikawa, Is/Is not
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control and Statistical Fundamentals
- Understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances and measurement methods
- Green Belt certification is preferred but not essential.
- Technical drawing reading and interpretation
- Must possess excellent verbal & written communication skills, as well as presentation and organizational skills.
