Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Athlone
Overview:
The Manufacturing Process Specialist is responsible for managing manufacturing yield and process performance improvements, executing process validation, and maintaining production quality across various manufacturing operations, including assembly, machining, and material handling.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage manufacturing yield and implement process performance improvements.
Execute process validation and ensure consistent production quality.
Design manufacturing processes, procedures, and layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, machining, and material handling.
Develop optimal machine arrangements within plant facilities for maximum efficiency.
Define operational sequences and specify fabrication procedures for tools, equipment, and processes impacting product performance.
Adapt machine/equipment designs to align with factory and production conditions.
Integrate inspection and testing requirements into production plans.
Inspect machinery, equipment, and tools to verify efficiency, initiating corrective actions to resolve deficiencies and maintain product quality.
Develop and apply manufacturing processes aligned with statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
Provide guidance to engineering on design concepts and specifications to maximize equipment and manufacturing technique utilization.
Ensure all processes and procedures comply with regulatory standards.

Required Knowledge and Experience:
University Degree in Mechanical, Polymer, Biomedical, or related Engineering/Science discipline.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, preferably within Medtech, Pharma, or Plastics processing industries.
Practical experience in manufacturing processes and systems, with a focus on extrusion, blow molding, or injection molding.
Application of statistical methods such as SPC, SQC, and DOE.
Proficiency in DFA (Design for Automation), Lean Sigma, and analytical tools like Minitab.
Experience in developing manufacturing documentation (MP, IP, BOM, CDP, IQ, OQ, PQ).
Demonstrated participation in process improvements, material changes, automation, validation, CAPA, and continuous improvement projects.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, SolidWorks, AutoCAD.
Knowledge of medical device materials (e.g., nylons, PVC, polyethylene, polypropylene, Pebax, PTFE, polycarbonate).
Familiarity with medical device manufacturing processes such as adhesive/thermal bonding, RF welding, and tip melting.
Effective problem-solving skills, proactive team player, and self-driven with a results-oriented approach.
Ability to manage projects from conception through completion, ensuring alignment with plant KPIs, schedules, and budgets.
