Job Title:
Senior Staff Engineer – Industrial Engineering
Reports To:
Senior Manager, Engineering – AMagine
Position Summary:
The Senior Staff Engineer within the Industrialization team plays a critical role in leading transformational initiatives to reduce lead time and drive process improvements across all areas of the manufacturing process. This position emphasizes Lean Engineering, cross-functional collaboration, and a hands-on approach to implementing scalable, innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as a technical leader promoting Lean Engineering principles and ensuring robust, scalable industrialization practices from early concept through to full production.
Partner with manufacturing process owners across key areas, including:
Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM)
Additive Manufacturing
CNC
Finishing
Inspection
Cleaning
Packaging
Labelling
Sterilization
Lead portfolio management efforts by anticipating the impact and integration of new products into the production system.
Establish standard work and process times through direct observation, work content analysis, and engineering time studies.
Conduct Takt Time and Capacity Analysis to define resource requirements and improve workflow efficiency.
Identify and eliminate cycle time variation across workstations to increase throughput.
Create and maintain current and future state value stream maps to analyze flow, identify bottlenecks, and uncover improvement opportunities.
Monitor and improve Lean performance metrics such as lead time, changeover time, and inventory levels.
Plan and lead Kaizen events focused on enhancing site performance and achieving key KPIs.
Perform root cause analysis, develop potential solutions, and evaluate them against defined requirements.
Develop a customer-focused continuous improvement framework for tracking and enhancing performance.
Drive the development, assessment, and implementation of continuous improvement and process re-engineering initiatives to eliminate waste, simplify workflows, reduce risk, and enhance cost-efficiency.
Coach, train, and mentor individuals and teams on Lean concepts to embed continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Collaborate with leadership to define and monitor process KPIs, ensuring ownership and accountability for key inputs.
Support the creation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
6+ years of engineering and Lean manufacturing experience.
Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
Demonstrated expertise in:
Value Stream Mapping
Time and motion studies
Work content graphs
Line balancing
Simulation modeling
Work measurement techniques
Proficient in:
Excel, Minitab, Power BI, AutoCAD
Strong track record of working in team-based environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Production System deployment.
Background in highly regulated industries.
Proficient with ERP systems (Oracle preferred) and Power BI.
Knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies and Smart Manufacturing concepts.
Experience in Operations Engineering and New Product Introduction (NPI)—preferably in orthopaedics or medical devices.
Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to manage concurrent tasks effectively.
Excellent communication skills, capable of clearly conveying technical concepts to all levels of the organization.
Prior experience in an FDA-regulated or equivalent regulated environment.
Demonstrated financial acumen and cost-conscious decision-making.
An innovative thinker with a proactive mindset and continuous improvement orientation.
