Senior EHS Specialist
The EHS Specialist supports the design, implementation, maintenance, and review of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance with regulatory, corporate, and industry requirements. This role will be instrumental in supporting the site’s implementation of ISO14001:2015 with an external vendor, overseeing Industrial Hygiene programs, and managing corporate EHS software systems and data. The specialist acts as an SME and advisor across the site in relation to EHS matters.
General Scope of Responsibilities
Implement, maintain, and sustain ISO14001:2015 Standard for the site in collaboration with an external vendor.
Act as site SME for Industrial Hygiene programs, including conducting Occupational Hygiene Risk Assessments.
Liaise with Global Health in the review and specification of SEG’s.
Coordinate Occupational Hygiene monitoring and activities with consultants.
Oversee new chemical introductions and maintain accurate SDS records within the corporate database.
Maintain the site Chemical Register and collaborate with stakeholders on chemical management.
Lead emergency response planning, training, and team readiness based on risk profile.
Manage the Contractor Management and Permit-to-Work processes.
Prepare monthly site metrics reports and ensure timely submission to Corporate EHS via CURVE.
Chair bi-monthly EHS Refresh Team meetings, ensuring compliance and deliverables are met.
Create and deliver presentations for EHS Management Reviews.
Deliver EHS-related training (e.g., Chemical Awareness, Manual Handling, Induction, Contractor Management, Permit to Work).
Provide training and act as site SME for corporate EHS Software Systems.
Perform quarterly walkdowns, audits, and program reviews to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
Support investigations of incidents, accidents, and “Good Saves,” ensuring effective CAPA closure in CURVE.
Assist with the preparation, implementation, and review of site EHS procedures and documentation.
Provide technical support for risk assessments and JSAs, implementing control measures where needed.
Act as a Manual Handling Instructor.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
Third-level qualification in Science, Engineering, or EHS.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in EHS, ideally within MedTech, Pharma, or related regulated industry.
Proven experience with ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards.
Strong knowledge of legal requirements and EHS best practices.
Proficiency in computer applications (Excel, PowerPoint, dashboards, KPI tracking).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable
Familiarity with OHSAS 18001.
Certified Manual Handling Trainer.
