Process Engineer
Reporting to: Engineering / Product Development Lead
Location: Castlebar
This role offers an opportunity to join a highly specialised manufacturing environment, supporting the development and optimisation of advanced production processes.
The Process Engineer will play a key role in driving manufacturing performance through process development, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives, while supporting new product introduction and ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Support end-to-end optimisation of manufacturing processes across production operations.
- Develop into a key technical point of contact for process-related challenges on the production floor.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including Production and Quality) to prioritise and deliver process improvements.
- Lead the design, development, and validation of new and existing manufacturing processes.
- Manage and implement process changes through structured change control systems.
- Work closely with production teams to plan and successfully execute process improvements.
- Develop and deliver technical documentation, including work instructions and training materials.
- Analyse process data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement solutions to improve performance and KPIs.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Engage with external suppliers and vendors where required to support process enhancements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with a data-driven mindset.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Experience interpreting data and implementing improvements based on insights.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks or similar).
- Experience with 2D drafting tools is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to production teams.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a process engineering role within a regulated or precision manufacturing environment.
- Strong hands-on background in areas such as machining, fabrication, or equipment development.
